The chaggim are behind us, and as the weather starts to cool, many of us are already dreaming about our next getaway. Winter vacation and Yeshiva Week are just around the corner, making it the perfect time to trade in sweaters for some sun.
When I was growing up, kosher food in the Caribbean was almost unheard of. Today, it’s a completely different story. Nearly every island now has a Chabad presence, and many even have kosher restaurants or food available at hotels. Earlier this year, Chabad rabbis from across the Caribbean gathered for a historic conference in St. Thomas, marking a milestone for Jewish life in the region.
The Caribbean is one of the best winter vacation destinations for kosher travelers, offering warm temperatures, sunny beaches, and plenty of ways to relax. While most islands enjoy great weather this time of year, it’s still smart to check local conditions before you book. Across the region, Chabad centers make kosher travel simple, offering Shabbat meals, catering, kosher shops, and even villa kashering. During the busy winter months, especially around Yeshiva Week, it’s best to contact Chabad well in advance to reserve meals or services. Many destinations even host daily minyanim during the season, and in some spots, you might find pop-up kosher restaurants open just for that time of year.
