Israel has always been one of the most popular places to spend Passover. In 2027, Pesach begins Wednesday night, April 21, and ends Wednesday night, April 28 in Israel. Outside of Israel, Pesach ends Thursday night, April 29.
There is something different about being in Israel for Pesach. Passover is one of the Three Pilgrimage Festivals, and during Chol Hamoed thousands of people head to Jerusalem and the Kotel, including for Birkat Kohanim.
For travelers coming from overseas, planning Pesach in Israel also looks very different this year. Last year, the war with Iran began before Purim and continued into Pesach. Flights were cancelled, foreign airlines suspended service and getting to and from Israel became much more complicated.
Baruch Hashem, things have been much quieter, and many foreign airlines have resumed flying to Israel. United and Delta are once again flying from the New York area, while Wizz Air and other European carriers have resumed service from cities across Europe. There are now far more flight options than there were leading up to Pesach last year, making it easier for families abroad to plan Pesach 2027 in Israel. As always, flight schedules can change, so it is important to keep an eye on your airline as the holiday approaches.
Don’t forget the ETA-IL: Travelers from visa-exempt countries, including the United States, are required to obtain an ETA-IL electronic travel authorization before traveling to Israel. The authorization costs 25 NIS and is valid for up to two years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. Apply through the official Israeli government website before your trip.

Most Pesach programs in Israel are non-kitniyot, which is something to keep in mind when comparing programs. Many restaurants that remain open during Pesach do serve kitniyot, so having meals included at your hotel can make the holiday much easier.
Many programs also accommodate overseas guests who keep two days of Yom Tov, with a second Seder and options to extend their stay through the end of Pesach outside of Israel. Check directly with each operator for their schedule and package details.

Spending Chol Hamoed Pesach in Israel
One of the biggest advantages of spending Pesach in Israel is what happens outside the hotel.
Chol Hamoed brings concerts, festivals, museums, national parks and special family activities throughout the country. Jerusalem is especially busy, and the Kotel draws large crowds for Birkat Kohanim. In the north, spring is a great time for hiking and enjoying the Galilee and Golan, while families staying at the Dead Sea can visit Masada and Ein Gedi.
Just remember that much of the country is on vacation at the same time. Popular attractions can get crowded and traffic can be heavy, so book activities in advance when possible and give yourself extra travel time.
Planning Pesach 2027 in Israel
After the travel disruptions surrounding Pesach last year, having more international airlines flying to Israel is welcome news for anyone considering coming for 2027. There are more nonstop and connecting flight options again, particularly through New York and major European cities.
Pesach programs are also starting to fill the Israel channel, with choices in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Herzliya, the Kinneret and Galilee, Akko and the Dead Sea. We will continue adding programs as operators announce their plans for 2027.
If you're thinking about spending Pesach in Israel, it still pays to plan early. Popular hotels and room categories can sell out, and airfare generally becomes more expensive as the holiday gets closer.
