The Daily Itinerary

Day 1 – Monday: Arrival in Montenegro

Guests arrive at Tivat or Podgorica Airport
Private transfers to Budva, a sunlit coastal town known for its Venetian walls, cobblestone lanes, and stunning Adriatic views.
After check-in, travelers can rest and unwind after their flight. For those who wish, an evening stroll through Budva Old Town offers the perfect introduction;  narrow alleys, stone archways, and the scent of the sea everywhere.

Overnight: Harmonia Hotel by Dukley, Budva

Day 2 – Tuesday: The Bay of Kotor, Perast & Our Lady of the Rocks

Depart from Budva for a full-day exploration of Boka Bay, often described as “the southernmost fjord in Europe.”

Highlights:

  • Kotor Old Town: A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kotor is a labyrinth of medieval streets, lively squares, and stone churches. Visit the Jewish Cemetery of Kotor, a quiet, meaningful site that speaks to the city’s diverse history and centuries-old Jewish presence.
  • Perast: This beautifully preserved baroque town, once home to noble sea captains, offers postcard-perfect views across the bay.
  • Our Lady of the Rocks: From Perast, take a short boat ride to this man-made island with its 17th-century church and museum. The legend says that sailors built it by dropping stones into the sea after every successful voyage — a beautiful tradition of gratitude and faith.
  • Kotor Cable Car: Ascend high above the bay for inspiring panoramic views. The ride reveals the striking contrasts of Montenegro — the deep blue of the sea framed by rugged mountain peaks at 1360m.
Overnight: Harmonia Hotel by Dukley, Budva.

Day 3 – Wednesday: Skadar Lake & Virpazar – Montenegro’s Wild Beauty

Today offers a glimpse into Montenegro’s untamed natural side. Depart Budva and drive south towards Skadar Lake National Park, one of Europe’s most important bird reserves and a place of almost dreamlike beauty.

Highlights:

  • Sveti Stefan Viewpoint: Stop for photos at Montenegro’s most iconic scene — the tiny island of Sveti Stefan, once a 15th-century fishing village, now a symbol of coastal elegance.
  • Virpazar: A picturesque lakeside village of stone bridges and fishing boats, serving as the gateway to Skadar Lake.
  • Skadar Lake Cruise: Enjoy a tranquil boat cruise surrounded by floating lily pads, cormorants, and herons. Learn about the lake’s role in local life — its fishing traditions, monasteries, and legends that have shaped the region for centuries.
Overnight: Harmonia Hotel by Dukley, Budva

Day 4 – Thursday: Dubrovnik, Croatia

Early departure for the border crossing into Croatia, heading toward the world-renowned city of Dubrovnik.

Highlights:

  • Dubrovnik Old Town: Encircled by massive stone walls, Dubrovnik’s old city is a living museum of history, art, and seafaring glory. Walk along marble streets, explore charming alleys, and visit the old harbor that once buzzed with merchant ships from across the Mediterranean.
  • Dubrovnik Synagogue: Visit one of the world’s oldest Sephardic synagogues still in use, dating back to the 15th century. The adjacent Jewish Museum provides a poignant look at the enduring Jewish heritage of the region.
  • Free time for independent exploration before returning to Montenegro.
Overnight: Harmonia Hotel by Dukley, Budva

Day 5 – Friday: Cetinje, King Nikola Museum & Lipa Cave – Transfer to Podgorica

Check out and travel inland to Montenegro’s cultural heartland.

Highlights:

  • Cetinje: Once the royal capital, this charming mountain town exudes dignity and history. Visit the Museum of King Nikola, housed in the former royal palace, which preserves the memory of Montenegro’s independence and European ties.
  • Lipa Cave: A short train ride through the forest leads to one of the country’s largest cave systems — a world of stalactites, stalagmites, and underground rivers beautifully illuminated for visitors.
  • Drive onward to Podgorica, Montenegro’s capital, where guests will arrive by 15:00, in time to check in and prepare for Shabbat
  • Kabbalat Shabbat at the community Centre followed by  Shabbat dinner.
Overnight: Boscovich Boutique hotel, Podgorica

Day 6 – Saturday: Shabbat at Leisure

Enjoy a restful Shabbat day of rest in Podgorica
Tefilla at the Centre, followed by lunch
Afternoon relax at the hotel or take gentle walks downtown or nearby Gorica hill.
Overnight: Boscovich Boutique hotel, Podgorica

  • Nikšić: Stop en route to visit the Memorial to Operation Velvet, honoring Montenegro’s WWII resistance fighters and their role in the region’s liberation.
  • Žabljak & Durmitor National Park: At over 1,400 meters above sea level, Žabljak is the highest town in the Balkans and the gateway to the mighty Durmitor mountains.
  • Visit Black Lake (Crno Jezero) — a glacial lake surrounded by pine forests and towering peaks.
  • Enjoy light walks, photo stops, and fresh mountain air in this pristine alpine environment.
